Ava

Meet Ava!  Ava is 9 years old and has been dancing since the age of 2.  She completes her dance training at Encore Dance Academy and Phunk Phenomenon.  At Encore Dance Academy, Ava is a member of the petite company team.  With her team she participates in 5 competitions and 1 convention per season.  This year, her team is competing in jazz, lyrical, and tap.  At Phunk Phenomenon, Ava is training in hip hop. Ava loves jazz and hip hop the most!  SHe loves these styles of dance because they make her feel free and allow her to express herself through the music and movements.  She loves to be able to show off her sassy side!  When we asked Ava what she loves most about dance, she told us that it would have to be her dance family!  She loves being able to do the thing that she loves most with her most favorite people - her dance team!  Dance makes Ava feel alive because when she is dancing, she feels like her truest self.  Dance also provides a way for Ava to express her emotions.  

Ava’s favorite part of The Alive Experience was spending the whole day learning and then having the opportunity to compete!  Her favorite class at the most recent convention was hip hop with Ms.Steph.  Ava also loves how supportive and inclusive the environment is at Alive competitions.  She is looking forward to future Alive events because she absolutely loves being an ambassador and representing Alive!  She can’t wait to share her love of Alive with new attendees and see the friends that she has made at past events.  

Fun fact - Ava is learning a new style of dance for her solo this year - musical theater!  She loves it and is happy that she pushed herself to try something new.  Ava is also a cheerleader and she loves using her skills from dance and applying them to cheerleading.  She cheers with her hometown every fall!
